The spread of Islam in sub-continent owes much to the effort, exertions and the personal examples of Muslim Scholar and sufis, who jorneyed from one end of the sub-continent to the other and had to face innumerable hardship in their endeavours to spread the light of Islam. the effort of these sufis and scholars for the spread of Islam were the first step taken for the establishment of free Islamic society. They won many followers of Islam by their personal examples of piety and simplicity and led the people in the several movement for the revival of Islamic glory in sub-continent.
Mujadid Alf Sani was a great Muslim saint and scholar who challenged the might of Akbar to revive and re-establish the glory if Islam in the sub-continent. the Moghal emperor had introduced a religious philosophy known as Din-e-llahi. it was an ill-fated attempt to combine the salient features of Islam with Hinduism. the success of Din-e-llahi would have ment the complete downfall of Islam as a faith and system of life.
Hazrat Mujdid Alf sani exposed the fallacy of Din-e-llahi. He came out with full vigour and vitality to cu curb the satanic influence of Din-e-llahi which stood for the distortion of Islam.
Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani whose real name was Sheikh Ahmed of Sirhind was a descendant from Hazrat Umar for which he was also known as Farooqi. He was born in 971 A.H. (14 June 1564) and was the fourth child of his father Sheikh Abdul Ahad. He went to Agra to begin his preaching of Islam in the royal court of Moghal Emperor. From Agra he was called back by his by his father and given the education in the mystical knowledge. After the death of his father he set out Haj but changed his mint at Delhi and became a disciple of Baqi Billah, he returned to sirhind and began his work his work of the spread of Islam.
Sheikh Ahmed continued with his preaching of Islam even after Jahangir accession to the throne. he worked very hard to restore the original teaching of Islam and emphasised on the concept of Tauheed. He become very popular with the people and aroused jealousy of the superficial Ulema. They conspired against Mujadid and complained to Jahangir that his popularity was harmful for the throne. They again incited Jahangir and asked him to summon Sheikh Ahmen to his court to perform Prostration of veneration before the king. Sheikh Ahmed came to the court but refused to perform the act of Prostration and declared that Sajdha could only be offered to God Almighty and none else. He was imprisoned but did not shirk his sacred task of the spread of Islam during the imprisonment. After two years Jahangir felling repentful, set him free and venerated him as a saint and scholar.
Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani, emphasised on Muslim to give up heretical ideas and practices and revert to purer Islam. He persuaded the people to adopt simple habits in life in the light of Islam and sunnah. He explained the important of Namaz to Muslims and asked them to adhere to Namaz strictly. he also explained the unity of fasting and declared that fasting protects the mankind from many sins. He strove very hard to eradicate the un-Islamic society. He put lot of emphasis on the separate identity of Muslims and adopted a stern attitude towards Hindus. His efforts contribute a great deal fowards the popularity of Islam in sub-continent. The movement launched by Hazrat Mujadid for the revival of Islam in India laid a foundation for the emergence of 'Two Nation Theory which played pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan, He wrote several books. His most famous book is known as 'Isbat-ul-Nubaat' in which he gave an explanation of Prophethood.
